Outrageous: rare giant whale shark seen near offshore oilfield in SW China's Beihai was killed just couple of hours after it was seen

A giant whale shark, the largest known extant fish species, was seen circling near an offshore oilfield near southwest China's Beihai city on May 7, 2016. The shark was later on seen killed and hung in the harbor just couple hours after it was first spotted.
The whale shark is the biggest fish and shark in the world. These gentle marine giants roam the oceans around the globe, generally alone. Whale sharks are legally protected in lots of countries and fishing on them is prohibited.
